As the deputy chair organization of the Advisory Committee of Foreign Language Teaching in Vocational Education of Ministry of Education, the International College of Ningbo Polytechnic serves as a HSK test center, a BEC test center and the only examiner of Japanese College Self-study Examination in Zhejiang Province. The College covers a total area of over 2,000 square meters with various training rooms, and boasts training software and hardware equipment worth more than RMB 10 million. The College has been closely cooperating with more than 30 enterprises such as HOOYA International, BTG-Nanyuan Hotels & Resorts, iFlying International Tourism Group, Shinshu Trading Co., Ltd., Samsung Heavy Industries, and BOSSGOO.com, which provides a variety of opportunities including teacher's on-the-job training, students'internship and employment, and scientific and technological social services.

The College has a professional teaching team. More than 80% of Chinese teachers have overseas study or teaching experience. More than 90% of the teachers are dual-qualified. The College has been closely cooperating with more than ten universities and colleges in Canada, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and other countries; over 20 teachers from abroad come to teach in the College every year. There are more than 1,300 full-time students in the College, and international students from Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Philippines, Yemen, Benin and other countries are enrolled every year. The College attaches great importance to students' professional skills, cross-cultural communication ability training and professional quality training. Relying on international exchanges and cooperation in running schools, the College provides students with diversified opportunities such as exchange visits, cultural experiences, further studies abroad, and overseas internships.

In January 2020, the Training Institute for Assisting Developing Countries was officially renamed as Silk Road College, relying on the development of the International College and the integration of resources as the only China's foreign aid training base for vocational and technical education granted by the Ministry of Commerce. Silk Road College actively responded to the national Belt and Road Initiative, explored overseas campus development, promoted Chinese vocational education and Chinese-funded enterprises to go global, shared Chinese vocational education experience and vocational education programs, and helped build a community of human destiny. Up to now, Silk Road College has conducted customized training for nearly 3,500 education and industry officials from 122 developing countries.
